REC News

Picture6.jpgLast week we began our Lenten journey on Ash Wednesday. Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate  Jesus’ sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. It is a special time for prayer, penance, sacrifice, and good works.
  • Lent is a time when we try to be closer to Jesus.

Project Compassion Boxes

Project Compassion Boxes were sent home last week. For over half a century, Project Compassion, an initiative of Caritas Australia, has raised funds to support people living in poverty around the world.

Our generosity will empower the world's most vulnerable communities to grow stronger and lift themselves out of poverty. Together, we can help these vulnerable communities.

Every cent that we can give will make a difference to someone’s life.

PROJECT COMPASSION LENTEN PRAYER

Picture5.jpgGod of our journey

we are all pilgrims of hope

brought together by your love

and your wish that we may all be one.

We pray that in this Year of Jubilee

when we are called to greater justice

and care for our common home

that we may Unite Against Poverty.

May we work in unity for the freedom

of the oppressed and the renewal of creation.

May our compassionate minds and generous hearts

help bring about a world where all can live in peace.

May our Lenten pilgrimage of fasting, almsgiving and prayer

bring us closer to your loving heart.

We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen

Prayer for Pope Francis

Picture3.jpgWe continue to prayer for Pope Francis in this time of ill health. Please keep him in your prayers.

Heavenly Father, we lift up Pope Francis to You in prayer. Grant him strength, healing, and peace during this time of illness. Guide the hands of the medical team caring for him and bless their efforts to restore his health. May he find comfort in Your presence and continue his mission to lead and serve the Church.

Through Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.
