School Christmas Nativity
In our school community, these last few weeks, we have been preparing for our Nativity Concert to be held in our school hall on Thursday 13th December from 6 pm - 7 pm. Please note that we will no longer be having a 'picnic' therefore you will need to eat prior to or after the event. The change of venue is due to an inclement weather forecast for later in the week. We hope to see many of you there to share in the Christmas story. This will be a great evening for families to join in the Christmas spirit, singing along to some great carols performed by the students of St Patrick’s. All parents, grandparents and friends most welcome.
End of Year Mass
This Friday at 12 we will celebrate our end of year Mass. The SRC will be leading the Mass. Children have been asked to bring a food item to give to the less fortunate.
Last year we were able to bring some Christmas relief to 25 families in our local community; this year we are hoping to make up 25-30 Christmas hampers. In order to ensure a variety of products for inclusion, we are anticipating the following classes can provide the following products;
Kindergarten: Drinks (non-alcoholic)
Year One: Dinner Savoury Pantry (pasta, sauces, 2 minute noodles)
Year Two: Party Pantry (biscuits, nuts, chips, popcorn)
Year Three: Tins and Cans (fruit, soup, vegetables)
Year Four: Cleaning and Toiletries (spray & wipe, toothbrushes, laundry powder)
Year Five: Breakfast Savoury Pantry (cereals, spreads, food bars)
Year Six: Sweets and Desserts (mince pies, custard powder, chocolates, puddings)
If you are unable to make the Thanksgiving Mass and bring up your non-perishable item during the offertory procession, it can be brought to school anytime beforehand, there will be baskets in each classroom and the front office as of Monday 10 December.
Thoughts/ Questions / Reflection for the week: Visio Divina
Use the image below to encounter the divine.
- Study the picture slowly, taking a first glance noting the colours, people, places and things. Remain with the image for one to two minutes. If you would like, jot down a few words about the image.
- Take a second, deeper, look. Where is there movement? What relationships do you see? Engage your imagination. Where are you in the artwork? What do you see from that perspective? What deeper meaning emerges?
- Respond to the image with prayer. Did the image remind you of an experience, person or issue for which you’d like to offer thanksgiving? In what way does God’s promise change, or not change how you visualize your relationship with the earth, each other, and God? Offer your thoughts as prayer to God.
- Find your quiet centre. Breathe deeply. Relax your shoulders, arms and legs. Rest in this quiet. Let God pray in you. God prays beyond words.
